In 2013, Nebula Founder, Rayne Moses met a 14 year old boy while skateboarding through Gugulethu, Cape Town…

“He asked if I could teach him how to skate. And I did. When we met, he was not performing well at school. With an absent father, his older brother in jail and a niece to look after, I showed him how the principles of skateboarding can change his life. He is now one of the top performing students in his school, Gugulethu's best skateboarder and has a greater chance to reach his dream of being a tech entrepreneur.”

With thousands of South African learners achieving dismal results in schools, the future of our youth is as scary as grinding down a 15-stair handrail. But if they can skate a handrail, then they surely can change their future.

Who We Are

We are a team of passionate skateboarders and volunteers who want to improve students’ performance at schools and empower them to pursue their dreams.

Fueled by his passion for skateboarding, Rayne Moses founded the Nebula Youth Development Programme in Gugulethu, Cape Town - a township striving to overcome the challenges of crime, gangsterism and violence.

“Nebula Skate of Mind” is the ethos that the Nebula team and its growing community of young skateboarders live by. This means:

Having a dream that you are passionate about

Self-belief that you can achieve the dream

Commitment to achieving that dream

What We Do

Nebula creates and facilitates a nurturing, dynamic environment where young South Africans can explore their potential and grow through experiential learning and entrepreneurial activity. Rooted in our passion for skateboarding, art, design, music and dance, Nebula sources strategic partnerships and creates solutions to the social and economic challenges our youth face in their communities.
